Nutrition Counselling

Whether your furry friend is a newborn, senior citizen, pregnant, has a chronic disease, or is perfectly healthy – they can benefit from a nutritional checkup. It’s the equivalent of meeting with a dietician for us humans. Here at South Shore, we offer customized nutrition consults for all our patients both in clinic and through telemedicine. Please call us at 902.543.5602 if you would like more details about our nutrition counselling services.

Why do pets need nutritional counselling?

The truth is, all pets despite their current health status, can benefit from a tailor-made diet plan created during a nutritional checkup. Food plays a major factor in your pet’s overall well-being. Having the proper diet and formulations will help them thrive through all the stages of their life. This will ensure they have ample energy, good mental health, strong immune system, optimal sleep quality and it can help lessen their chances of being diagnosed with certain diseases.

What happens during pet nutritional counselling?

Members of our team including a veterinarian and RVT (registered veterinary technician) will ask you questions about your pet’s current eating habits and routine, as well as your goals regarding their nutrition. Then we will make recommendations on certain foods, formulations, feeding styles/frequencies, serving sizes, potential supplements and more to help your pet have the best nutrition possible to meet their unique needs.
