Coggins Test for Travel

A Coggins Test is a blood test and screening for Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA). This test is required if you plan to take your horse out of the country, and also, some horse shows may request it. The test needs to be done within 180 days before your travel to the USA, and your show may have specific time regulations, but this may vary from show to show.

A Coggins accredited veterinarian must take your horse’s blood sample. We have multiple veterinarians at our clinic who are accredited. There is extensive paperwork to be filled out, and the test is sent away to an external lab and may take 2-3 weeks for results to come back: so please ensure you have left enough time for this delay.
